Shorter Days ~ Sluggish Efforts

Gosh it's getting chilly! But our crazy tomatoes are still going strong. Every couple of days, I pick a couple of dozen little toms. If it gets any colder, I'll just pick all the green ones. Fried green tomatoes really are delicious. Yum!

With the shorter days, instead of working hard on growing my winter garden, I've just been growing more lazy. Ah well...It's that time of year. Hubby, darling daughter, and I will be on a week-long vacation soon: first driving to Long Beach; then taking a cruise ship (3 days) to Catalina, Ensenada (México) and the open sea. We've never cruised before. It should be fun with no cooking, cleaning, or stressing. We won't be having a regular Thanksgiving celebration here this year. But I bought a couple of huge 21# turkeys anyway. After our trip, we're going to try to make our own turkey jerky. There will be plenty of turkey that won't be slice-able for jerky that we'll cook up for regular eating. So we can have a Thanksgiving-style dinner a week or so late.
